LSM in
Olympic Disciplines

With India winning her 1st individual Gold Medal at the Olympics alongwith 2 other Bronze Medals at the last Beijing Olympics 08 the focus and the interest of the media as well as the corporate have been growing on the Olympic disciplines in which India has a genuine medal prospect. The Commonwealth Games in 2010 at Delhi followed by the Asian Games and the London Olympic 2012 gives ample opportunity to the Indian Athletes to showcase their talent in the World arena with the intension of promoting Olympic disciplines in mind, LSM has in recent months tied up with National Associations of Boxing, Wrestling, Archery and Shooting and have successfully roped in Sahara India Pariwar to financially back not only these Federations but also the leading Athletes so that they can concentrate solely on the expertise and not worry about the monetary aspects of life.

BOXING

After the bronze winning performance of Vijender Singh, Boxing has turned out to be a mass sports in India. Needless to say India is currently 8th out of 58 countries in the overall Nations ranking in the last held World Championship and Vijender Singh has become the number one in his weight category.

In order to support this emerging mass sports, LSM alongwith the Indian Boxing Federation identified 14 promising boxers, including Vijender Singh, Akhil Kumar, Nanao Singh, Jitender Singh etc who have a realistic chance of bringing laurels in different International tournaments including the London Olympics. Sahara India Pariwar, the largest sports promoter in India was roped in to sponsor these Boxers for a period of 4 years. This deal also extends to sponsoring National Championship.

LSM also played catalyst role in tying up Sahara to built infrastructure at Bhiwani Boxing Club to create International Standard rings, state of the art Boxing arena and other facilities.

SHOOTING

  WRESTLING

The bronze winning performance of Sushil Kumar at Beijing Olympics in 2008 prompted LSM to tie-up 17 wrestlers including Sushil Kumar with Sahara India Pariwar, the leading sports promoter of India. This tie-up would not only help the athletes perform better but would also create role models and enhance the popularity and awareness of this game leading to many taking this as a profession. This tie-up of 4 years provide graded system of sponsorship payment to each athlete depending on the performance and achievements which would be reviewed every year by Wrestling Federation of India so that noteworthy performance of the athletes in a calendar year does get noticed leading to additional stimulus for the athletes.

LSM also lined up Sahara to upgrade basic infrastructure at Guru Hanuman Akhara so that the wrestlers get adequate and state of the art facilities for better performance.

ARCHERY

Indian Archers have been performing brilliantly, both on individual and Team levels, not only at Asian Meets but also at International forums for e.g., the team lifted several medals during the 1st Asian Grand Prix at Bangkok, February 09. Similarly the team (Men’s) was the proud recipient of "gold Medal" during the Archery World Cup stage I held at Santo Domingo, April 09. This is how Indian Archery Team has been making news for its continuous brilliance and making the country proud.

To ensure continuous good performance and large scale participation and availment of advance technology, LSM brought in Sahara India Pariwar for a period of 4 years starting from 2009 till 2012 London Olympics to sponsor top 10 Archers including Dola Banerjee, Mangal Singh Champia etc alongwith the National Team (Men & Women) and Sr. National Championship. The support provided by Sahara is based on the huge potential of this Olympic discipline.
